Breaking the cycle of ego identification is the beginning of true healing. Remembering the ego is and never was in the way; it is self-consciousness caught in the narrow perspective of ego and intellect functioning as they do. It is an illusion projected by a little mind that consciousness gets wrapped up in, and it is the freedom from the bondage of an illusion. Consciousness is unbounded, immutable, and eternal. Freedom or liberation from the illusion is the realization that the self has always been free.
Ego play’s its role in presenting the illusion as a way to go beyond the illusion by bringing forth constant messaging of what you are not. And it is not helpful to blame the ego/mind, to fight and disparage oneself; this only feeds the ego with a new action believing oneself as a personal ego/mind to be completed in truth at a later date. The truth shines now, and this is it, consciousness aware of its essential nature with the display of the personal ego/mind dimension.
One could say that the limited ego is a mini guru in teaching you that life’s circumstances and situations are not actual unto themselves; there is much more going on here. Outside of a way to recognize that personal attachments and the narrow-minded conditioning arising as behavioral tendencies are only ignorance of what is always present—unbounded consciousness, the eternal self. Subtle mechanics inherent in an ever-expanding infinite consciousness are revealed as the absolute truth of existence.
It is based on the distinction between the material physical relative reality and the unbounded absolute value of consciousness; non-duality teachings profess and find common ground in this self-realization. Only by knowing what is not can one realize what indeed is through meditation and self-inquiry. You are lost in the reality of the dream, thinking that you are a part of the dream reality, when you are the complete dream illusion within the reality of unbounded awareness. Consciousness is the container of the apparent dream reality. The knowing of this distinction is reconciled with recognition of unity.
